The whole trick to driving in the snow in Seattle is don't go above 15-20 miles per hour, give the car in front of you a good 30-50 feet so they don't fuck you up, and plan your route to avoid hills. It worked for me yesterday with no problems. Thankfully I had thrown about 300 pounds of logs and bricks in my pickup a few days ago, so driving around town in the snow was no biggie.

We had to go into work in the morning, but the UW closed at 12:30pm yesterday because of snow, that ruled. Amy and I cruised home and played with our dog in the snow. I helped a couple stuck cars get moving in front of my house and tried sledding on a big sheet of plastic down our hill, with OK success. Since a bunch of our friends were sledding and partying in Ballard, we cruised over there and met up with them at the Tin Hat. It took a while to find a route to cross I-5 on that wasn't too hilly or blocked by Metro busses, but we eventually made it. We didn't end up sledding, we ended up drinkin' instead, and playing cards, with 10 or so peeps at the Tin Hat, while fielding a bunch of phonecalls with bands and the Re-bar, trying to find out if Clinic would go down or not, it was eventually cancelled. Amy and I cruised home early before the roads could get icey, as luck would have it, we could have stayed later since the snow turned to rain and driving got really easy.

Today it's all slush, I actually slid around more this morning than driving yesterday, go figure. Seattle just can't have snow on the ground for more than a day or two. No fun.
