You are all a bunch of pussies. Stop whining already. Did you ever think Kerry really had a chance against an incumbent war president? OK, I admit I did for a fleeting moment in the last week when the polling finally went in his favor, and again early on November 2 when early exit polls looked good. But I know I was fooling myself. I was happy to at least have had a few moments of hope before getting crushed, rather than a sense of the doom for the final two weeks of the election process. What's changed today from 2 weeks ago? Not much really. Bush will now have to deal with his massive deficit and debt, his war, and try to pull some sort of a legacy out of it. For us, the progressives, radicals, anarchists, liberals, punk rockers, leftists or what have you, Kerry was not really our ideal candidate anyway. He was the lesser of two evils. He would have temporarily stopped the wound from bleeding, but wouldn't have been the cure. He would have faced a Republican dominated senate and house, an enormous debt and an increasingly troublesome and unpopular war. He would have been fucked. 4 years and out, blamed for all of Bush's mistakes. And just to put things in perspective, Bush won 52% of the vote from 60% of the eligible voters, it was a minority of America that voted him into office, and from exit polls, it looks like even that minority seemed to do it reluctantly.

What you should take some fucking pride in is how well the left mobilized itself in the past year. We saw punk rockers like those yahoos from NOFX start punkvoter.com and actually raise millions of dollars that they sunk into advertising in all the swing states. We saw a bunch of new youth oriented organizations spring up to register millions of people to vote. Pacs like MoveOn.org utilized the internet to raise money and spread the word like no one had before. From the grassroots to millionare lobbyists, the progressive agenda was pushed on every level. The left is now loud, proud, and vibrant again like it hasn't been in years and years. Don't let this energy die, don't bail and leave the country, it's not time to give up, IT'S TIME TO STAND UP AND FUCKING FIGHT.

How? Just wait, over the next couple months a ton of groups are going to re-organize or form to captitalize on all the progressive energy to give people a way to plug in. In the meantime, stop feeling sorry for our plight. Hang out with your friends, dance, drink, party, fuck, have fun and get on with life. This isn't the end of anything, this is merely a bump in the road.
