Hey Mr. DJ

Last night I DJed at Clinic. It went well, no dead air or fuck ups, which is a first for me... and it's only like the 4th time I've DJed. It's much easier doing it at Re-bar up in a DJ booth with lights on your music and lotsa space. Shorty's is kinda crazy to spin at, and I've only done it there when Lisa needs a break to eat. And at the Sunset it's really hard to hear your music and pay attention because you're pretty much right next to the crowd. Since the bands were mostly country-twanged punk, I ended up spinning more rockabilly and alt country than I would normally. Hell normally I'd spin straight up old punk. I also tossed in a bunch of my friends bands like the Spits, Gloryholes, Midnight Thunder Express, Valentine Killers, Zeke and shit that all kinda went well with the speed of things after I picked up the pace with playing some 9 Lb. Hammer.

The bands. Wages of Sin were way more loud than I expected, since I knew they had a fiddle and stand up base, I wasn't expecting a punk edge. But they had it, and were great. Dead Vampires is Spanky's band, they were in costume and played fucked up classic punk instrumentals and tried to get the crowd to sing the lyrics, it was pretty funny. White Knuckle Ride turned out to feature one of the guys from Blue Collar (who I swear is twice as big now) and the old drummer from Zero Squad, Scott's old band. They were totally fun, but I cruised before they finished so I could get at least 5 hours of sleep.

It's 90% likely that my truck problems a few days ago were user error. I'm still getting used to the gear shift may have very well not had it quite in park, hence no turning over, but full power. Yes, I'm a dumb-ass. Laugh at me now. See, now you feel better and won't write one of those boring depressing live journal posts about how crappy your life is - which seem to account for a good 75% of what people post to live journals.
